Meet the Founders
Husband and wife team Jun and Sunshine Quitain have worked side by side since the early days of More Than Fishing®.
What began as a simple fishing video shot on an iPhone 6 and uploaded to YouTube so Jun’s mother could see his catch quickly grew into something much bigger.
In their second year, they organized their first catch and release surf fishing tournament for striped bass, creating strong interest across the Bay Area. They connected with experienced leaders in the fishing community to ensure their tournaments were properly executed while protecting the environment and preserving the striped bass population. Conservation and responsible fishing remain at the heart of every event.
Jun continues to produce educational videos focused on technique, safety, and how to read the water for better fishing opportunities. His mission is to share knowledge in fishing, recommend reliable fishing equipment and gear, and most importantly create a safe and kind community that shares the same vision.
Now a decade later, not only has the following grown, but the community has grown with it. Each year, their events attract hundreds of participants and bring together fellow content creators from across the country, including the East Coast.
More Than Fishing continues to inspire other organizations and raise funds annually for nonprofit partners such as Pacific Beach Coalition and WCC.
It is not just fishing. It is More Than Fishing.
